You are invited to
The Earth Archives
curated by Danielle Vogel
—
If I were to invite you to tell me what you remember of water, which memories come to mind? If I were to ask you about air, whose air, from when and where, would fill your breathing? If I asked you to tell me about earth, which stretch of land, what soil or loam, would return to you? If I asked you to tell me what you know about fire, what light would flare your thinking?
Which memories do you associate with the elements of air, fire or ash, earth, and water? Which memories will you add to an Earth Archive?
—
If you would like your memories archived in The Earth Archives,
please take the following steps:
Record a series of brief memories that begin:
1. This is water from…
2. This is fire (or ash) from…
3. This is air from…
4. This is earth from…
And then email the 4 separate digital files of your voice to:
—
Please note:
—IMPORTANT: You can record on your phone, but please make sure you are recording in Stereo. If recording with iPhone's Voice Memos: navigate to your Settings. Select “Voice Memos” followed by “Audio Quality.” Select “Lossless” to avoid compression. On an Android in Voice Recorder: open the app to adjust Settings. Tap the More button (ellipsis) in the top right corner of your screen. Select “Settings” to access voice recording settings. Set "Recording quality" to High.
—There’s no need to try to be poetic. I invite you to be honest, succinct, and vivid. These are memories, not poems, so don't put too much pressure on yourself.
Where, who and when do these elements flare in you?
—These recordings are usually no longer than 10-25-seconds each.
